Episode 1 of the Mental Impressions Podcast is an introduction to the Podcast and Mental Impressions in general, expressing the ideas behind the formation and creation of Mental Impressions with some background information about our host and founder of Mental Impressions C.A. Aseltine.
I have observed over the years many people: friends, family, acquaintances who have claimed to long for more out of life. But, the funny thing is, most of them do not believe that they can have better so they don’t even attempt to desire such a thing. It is a strange and paradoxical thing to watch someone long for something while at the same time see that an actual desire for it is absent.
Spring is here and looking outside it is very clear that it is going to be a beautiful one! I realized while at the local beach yesterday with my wife and son, that we need more nature in our lives. For all those wondering, yes it is a bit early for the beach unless you are an Aseltine-we love the beach every season of the year, yes I did go in the water and, yes it was cold. But, I loved it, as I stood in the water I was able to reconnect with nature and I was rejuvenated.
Simple is always better in my book, so today we’re going to do some K.I.S.S. “keep it simple [smarty]”. Whoever made up the original acronym needs some serious help with their positive mental attitude and directing their mind in a desirable direction. We need to focus on what we want and I am sure we all desire to be at least a little smarter, hence the change, and let’s be honest you are super intelligent if you decided to visit mentalimpressions[dot]com and read this article so I think it’s safe to call you a smarty and not that other word that we won’t even mention.
I have wanted to write something on the Law of Attraction for some time now but every time I start to think about the topic or begin to write, I stop. I was unsure as to why so I set it aside up until this point. Today I realized why. Many “teachers” discuss the Law of Attraction at great length as if they have a secret insight into the hidden mysteries of the universe and speak as if they have completely mastered something that we have only just begun to become aware of.
Self-confidence doesn’t just happen it is cultivated and there are two key components to encouraging the development of your own self-confidence. First, you have to do more and second, you have to praise more. Self-confidence comes gradually over time from the praise we receive after we take action. This seems simple enough but often we don’t stop to think about it. As children when we do something like laugh or smile and our parents get extremely excited and praise us, exclaiming how amazingly wonderful and vastly superior we are for accomplishing this milestone, how do we respond?
We are each ourselves; sounds very simple and like a, “well duh” thing to say but sometimes we need to remind ourselves of that. We are here to be us, not anyone else. Each of us is unique, no one can argue with that and we all understand that on some level. Even twins are unique in a multitude of ways from birth marks to personality, professions to beliefs; there are noticeable and measurable differences between all of us. We are all very similar as well, more alike than we are different; but within the differences we find our uniqueness and that is what is ours to shape. We have to remind ourselves of this very important fact often. I believe we must exercise our ability to shape this portion of ourselves consistently and constantly; to ensure we hone this craft of self-formation. We must explore ourselves and expand to our own individual vision. If we all do this we all will be exactly what we want to be, exactly what we’re meant to be.
I tend to lean towards a more scholarly style of article writing for Mental Impressions, I feel that it gives more to the reader and allows the writing to function primarily as an informative piece. I realize this technically is a blog of sorts and part of the fun of a blog is getting to be a little more personal, which allows you, as the reader, to get a better sense of who I am and what I represent. I’d like to start writing a post every so often that is a little more laid back and informal; something that allows us to have a little more fun.
What is passion and how do we express it? How do we harness its power to create something amazing in our life? Can we make passion or is it something forged on the inside in total mystery? Where does passion come from and where does it go? I have had passion for so many things in my life, some instantly and some built strong over time. Passion that crept in out of nowhere until it would no longer go unnoticed and burst forth in action. I have observed my passion as it flew away, unaware and unable to stop it; stunned as I felt the feeling leave, longing for its return. I have attempted to be passionate and failed. I have decided to be passionate about something and I was successful. I have had people inspire passion within me, events, a moment; I’ve looked up and been hit with passion but how and why? What is passion and what can it do to help us succeed?
Repetition, as with learning, is a wonderful tool when it comes to success. If you know nothing else other than your desire and you repeat that desire consistently and constantly and then take action with persistence and belief, being sure to always refocus on your desire along the way, you will achieve that desire! Repeating a desire allows your mind to tune in to it, it tells your mind, “This is what we are focusing on and we will have it.” It shows your mind what you believe is important for it to spend its energy accomplishing. And in return your mind will begin to utilize all its faculties to help see it through to completion. Your mind is a very powerful tool and repetition is a very basic way to start getting that mental power working for you in a focused and directed way.
